Underage porn now banned in the UK

Recently, Parliament has passed a bill to extend the meaning of underage pornographic material to include art or any other depictions of which is “the predominant image conveyed is that of a child” and will also include non-photographic images. The bill has also been royally signed and now passed as a law with offenders expecting as much as 3 years in prison for possession.

The impact on this is highly controversial for its enactment. Since any image, even if the characters are regarded as over 18, if deemed having a minor or “the predominant image conveyed is that of a child” (diminutive in build, small or flat chested, lack of pubic hair, etc.) will be regarded as illegal. Also, even images ‘sexual’ (note, the law did not straight out say pornographic/obscene) in nature can be filed as an offense. Defense though are highly subjective such as the accused having no has not seen the image before, or has no prior knowledge that the image is offending. Like I said, very weak and subjective defense.

But one must also note the enforcement record of Britain with their other laws that affect the general otaku culture in their lands; I’m talking about the anti-piracy law and the non-violent pornography law. Will the underage porn ban also be a soon-to-be forgotten one?

Tokimeki Memorial celebrates 15 years

Everyone familiar with the Tokimeki dating sim franchise by Konami should be very familiar with this one. Tokimeki Memorial ~Forever With You~, the one that started it all (back in 1994 on the PC, 1995 for its console debut) will have yet again another remake in celebration for its 15th anniversary. The game is available for download for the PS3 and will be available for the PSP along with Tokimeki Memorial 4.

The game introduces improved graphics and animation in-sequences. Also, they now have voice actors! The game also introduces several new minigames as well as an arcade plug-in (how the arcade roulette works is beyond me) in order to access bonus art, scenes and codes readable by your PSP.

Hyped Thriller-Mystery Visual Novel to be animated this coming january!

It has been recently announced that popular mystery-thriller PSP Visual Novel Okami Kakushi is slated for broadcast this coming January, next year. The VN is authored by Ryukishi07 of 07th Expansion (Higurashi, Umineko) with art by Peach-Pit (Rozen Maiden, Shugo Chara) and published by Konami.

The premise goes with a boy named Hiroshi who recently lived in a town divided in 2 by a big river. Although still undergoing culture shock, he enjoys living in the new neighborhood. But one day, his class president suddenly told him not to go to the old half of the town. What lies for him there?

Though there are no PVs for the anime yet, I’ll just leave the OP for the PSP here.
